Derbi Variant Sport GPS fun.

 So tonight I decided to GPS my Derbi Flatreed after the I drilled the carb and intake to 15mm. It was funnnnnn and my top speed was 44.1 mph...not bad for a unmolested stock cylinder. I am currently running stock gearing of 13 x 33, 15mm dellorto sha with 75 jet with just a plastic shroud filter, 15mm intake, stock reeds, stock timing, stock clutch springs, stock head, stock cylinder, 2 weights taken out of the stock varo (yes there are 4 in there right now) and a derbi ninja circuit pipe with holes in it.  I'm very satisfied at the moment with the performance seeing as all upgrades other than the pipe were free.  With 2 weights removed the take off is similar to a kitted bike, but I think I may be missing out on a millimeter or two of varation. I totally soft seized it after I GPSed it though!! I was riding to the gas station and right when I hit the powerband, I realized the gas wasnt on and I came to a screeching stop hahaha. But it started back up and idles fine so WHATEVER!

Oh Hey Derbi, Oh Hey Winter.

I got a projector and have been hiding in Kansas watching X-files and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr..... Back in Chi with a mini update on how winter sucks ass. Put a circuit on the Grande but WHO KNOWS HOW IT WORKS CAUSE ITS TOO COLD TO THINK... let alone ride and test things. Beards and mustaches are nothing but icles and boogers, its like the scene in dumb and dumber when they ride the briggs & stratton bike to aspen X a milli. Bought a 1988 Derbi Variant Sport which I am very stoked on and will keep it a stock blaster. Thom went crazo and made this ridiculous mutant concord bike. Also got a 1994 Yamaha Jog in Kansas for $35 weeeee. Winter is the worst because I cant skate, moped, jump in rivers, ride bikes, HEELIE, travel by foot and the list goes on forever. Who else wants to punch winter's head off it's body?

Derbi Laguna HPI fun fun.

So Put a HPI Ignition on my PP Derbi Laguna today. Im excited to increase the reliability and performance after having issues with my stock ignition. I still need to put the lighting coil on and get the correct bulbs for it. I slapped this dude on in 10 mins and its ripping. Also I added a 18mm Mikuni Carb (running 70 jet with no air filter) for a 50cc race I was in 2 weeks ago at the Motion Left Rally (The race was hilarious!). Look at that Donger intake I made out of a stock Puch pipe. I'm thinking about going back to the Dellorto 14:12 though because I'm not sure I need an 18mm carb on my stock cylinder, who knows! ALSO Been travelling a ton! Went to the Motion Left Rally "Slow Motion" and had a blast. I was in a 60 mile 50cc race with 2 other people. Ultimately noone really won because we all got lost. But we had a ton of fun at the camp site ramping (and breaking...TRAVIS) mopeds, I got Chad Burkes Derbi SL stuck in 8 foot cattails. I recently went home and bought a 20 dollar white 1977 Puch Maxi that I'm excited to make BONE stock and ride around looking stupid on. Pumped on life.

HPI instructions if you dont already have them. Super easy to follow and the Derbi PP and PR engines both use the left diagram, set it and forget it.

Mobile Friendly MOPED SUMMER 2012 Video.

I made a video last month of some of the mopeding and travelling I've done this summer. I uploaded it to Vimeo and it worked great. My Derbi Laguna GPS'd! Wooooo!

Got a few holes patched in my pipe and decided to finally GPS my derbi. The current setup is a 65 jet in a Dellorto 14:12, 1 variator weight taken out (yes you read that correctly), timing slightly advanced, stock cylinder with ports cleaned up, a ninja Circuit pipe, 1500 clutch springs, stock gearing (19 x 30), and 36 psi in each tire. I was wearing new microsuede black Vans (double knotted and laced to the top), Krew Andrew Reynolds pants with crotch blown out, no show white socks, black American Apparel pocket Tee with an ACR pin, random full face helmet found at the MLM shop (smelled like booty juice), 14 g septum ring (I think its surgical stainless steel but I could be wrong), 3 inch beard, and a huge shit eating grin. I hit 42.5 mph and im pretty satisfied with that, cruised steady at 40mph. I like getting good gas mileage and keeping up with traffic. but we all know that IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE MILEAGE, ITS ABOUT THE SMILE-AGE.

I've been hanging hard in Columbia Missouri with my Mid-Moped (MMP) buddies for the last few days, so Fun. I miss the I-70 midwest cities for real. Getting out of Chicago and going back to Missouri and Kansas is always a good time. First thing that struck me when I arrived in Chicago is "where do you burn things?" and "where is your front yard?" I'm a small town d-bag at heart. I just love the fact that you can do burn outs whenever and dont have to have insurance or a license here. So I never have to worry about plates or whatever when I visit. So I've just been hanign with Ryan Nash and we have been riding, wrneching, and making videos non stop.
