Moped Tattoos and Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

GLG homie Bill Crawford just got this mopws tattoo. SKELLY RIDING A PINTO oww oww! Anyone else have moped tattoos? (I know most of you do). send me pics and I'll put them up.

I just got my first moped tattoo the last day I was in Chicago with my HNR brothers (it's kinda crappy but only cost $30). It's a still from a short film I enjoy, Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Jeunet has French mopeds half of his films. You might know him by Amelie (has a Mobylette in it), Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Micmacs (old lady blasts on a Peugeot 104 WHOA!), Alien: Resurrection, and others. He is amazing, seriously.
The image can be found in this short film at 2:22, "place for my moped".

Peugeot 103 update + puch tip.

SOOOO I finally got my camera charger today and decided to take some pics of my progress on my Puegoet 103. Have been pretty busy at the shop but I had sometime after hours to get some things done. My main goal with this bike is to show people you can make a french ripper without spending too much money.

Just put on black mini M bars, 2.25 and 2.5 Gazzelles, ER2 varo with clutch function, ER2 pulley,  del 14:12, did clutch mods, and the rest is stock. I think im going to order a kit, spring, and pipe for it next week. Until then I have to mess with the motor mounts, shim the pulley,  hack the seat, rejet  (?), hack the bars shorter, hook up the light and clean int up.

Today I learned that Motobecane rear wheel nuts can fit on the flywheel side of an E50 crank. I was just holding it and there was an E50 crank next to me and something told me to do it (it just felt right).

Who likes french bikes?

I've been working on a lot of French mopeds lately and I wanted to share some photos! Plus a special French present from my buddy back in the Midwest.

First is my Pug 103 project. Doing it stockish.... Did mild porting, polini reeds, new seals, 14:12 dellorto, 5 coil 102 ignition, Euro cases with 3rd transfer (for when I kit it), and the rest is pretty much stock.

Next I've been oogling over this Peugeot 105 for a while.
 oooohhhh
Stock mechanical disc brake and larger clutch than 103s,
COOL DASH TO AVOID JUNEBUGS ON THOSE HUMID SUMMER NIGHTS
Stock CDI and Mini pipe!
Stock 70cc
whoa
We like to cook.
Lastly, My dear friend Robert Balk from Illinois sent me some Moby goodies today! Robert is a great dude with a bunch of peds, scooter, radios, parts, motorcycles, you name it. I first met him at the Chicago FTW rally in '09, since then weve kept in touch and hung out at rallies. He's a great dude and he has TONS of moby parts so if you need anything shoot him a part number and he probably has it!
Factory tools anyone?

No new photos but we have a few videos.

Hey So broke my phone AND Laptop yesterday! oh and my Camera is almost dead and I have no charger for it. What a good week! Well until I can take and edit more photos I'll post some moped related videos I was in this week. The first is an over the phone interview I did with the Lafayetis Brian (DWAYNE) and Philip! They have been doing a weekly moped podcast video thing called "Moped Talk". I think it's great and I'm actually kind of jealous I didn't come up with a good idea like they did. The answer questions and give PRO TIPS, it's a fun thing to be involved with. I was the first person they interviewed and I am happy to be involved!

Next is a bunch of footage of a party we had one of the last nights Nate Pelak and I were in Chicago. It was edited and filmed by a sweet friend of mine Hannah Momberg LFKansas represent!!!! Not alot of footage of mopeds in it but if you know any of the HNRZ you'll probably know some of the people in this. Moped people having fun, you can't beat it!!! plus you can see my wack skate skills and we smash a tv.

Oh and another one too! we made this 2 years ago and it was lost on a computer til now. All my CT homies! Brett, Drailer, Smashley, K9, Mycider, Malaguti Mike! Kansas rules.

Austin Mopeds!

Moving along! About a month ago Lester who runs Austin Mopeds threw out the option of me visiting Texas and wrenching for him. Needless to say the idea of making money, wrenching on peds, and dodging the nasty midwest winter seemed great to me. I arrived 2 days ago and things have been great so far. Austin Mopeds is a very nice shop with tons of parts and a lot of know-how. It's fun to be working in a nicer environment because it makes you really want to do things right and not cut any corners. I think environment has a great deal to do with how productive of a builder you are. Don't get me wrong, I sometimes miss those nights where I was locked in a small basement room rebuilding engines alone, my friends and girlfriend not getting it, when engines seemed new and magical. But I'm also enjoying knowing how to do things right and having the tools to do it. Listen to me blab! Here are some pics of the shop and I'll probably be updating more since I'm here now.

Here you can see a few crappy frames and some of my old scooters. If you see something you want let me know and I'll send it your way. Headed to Texas tomorrow to work at Austin Mopeds for a couple months, EXCITED!

Let's get organized!

Last night at the Shred Shed.

Last night we did a ton of wrenching at the shred shed. Pugs and Puchs! Also check out the 4 shocks on the TSM lol. Headed back to Kansas today and then on to Austin within the week.

 hahahah
Puegeot small and large taper difference.

 Euro cases with 3rd transfer.

Had to rebuild this Puch 3 times due to crank bearings blowing. YAY
If you didnt know, you can crack an e50 upside down on the bike with only taking out the stator screws, 2 clutch cover bolts, and the case screws.
