Vespa Notes To Self.

Been working on some problem child Vespas lately and took a few photos of things that stood out to me.

Isn't the Ciao graphic the best?
Such a stupid fun little Ciao, Im really amazed what this bike can do with a 51 jet in it.

First thing is how off this treats replacement piston is. Just noticed it when putting it in, the first 3 photos are the replacement sew piston and the last 3 photos are an original piston. The cut out is off and will need to be modded a tad. And yes, the piston is in right side up.
Pretty off.

Better.

I didnt end up using the replacement piston. You want it for free?

Second, using too long of rear wheel mounting bolts AND THE CONSEQUENCES.
So I got a "good rebuilt vespa rear wheel" from a dude for cheap not thinking too much could be messed up, I was wrong. So this thing came with the 4 M10 mounting bolts for the rear wheel, score! Upon further inspection, I realize that the previous owner had used too deep of bolt on the rear wheel. This caused the bolts to break through the gearbox cover and all the shrapnel went into the gears, fun!
This is what yout gearbox is supposed to look like internally (this is off a non varo version so its missing needle bearings but I'm focusing on the 2 caps on each side of the center needle bearing).
Externally.
This is the fucked up gearbox, wow you can see through it!
Bits I had to pull out, the hardest was the pieces smashed in the gear teeth.
This is where magnets come in handy.
So the stock bolt is M10 x 22mm, anything longer could mess your gearbox cover up like mine :(.

Vespa CiaoDar fun fun.

Stoked to be finished with one of my Vespas. I bought this ciao at the STL rally off of Ryan Nash who got it from Rob Balk. The price was right at $75 and it came with a title! Got a some malossi varo goodies and a donated rusty 64cc malossi kit from will @ MOPED. Techno Circuit pipe provided by the FAMOUS Zacarius of Chicago il and we are very proud to have him as a part of our scene. Thom gave me the seat and I really have no idea what vespa it came off. If you know, let me know. The headlight came off your mom and I stole the rear view mirror off of a Lambo. Stoked to have another dumb looking shredder around.... come to chicago and ride it dudes!

Old maxi shocks turned into Thugs only springer seat.
Tony from HNRZ showed up to wreck it asap.
 Missy Elliot video helmet.
New build for garage. Swagger Dracula: All stock Puegeot 103 with a mykitech clutch pulley and a Malossi launch lever. I DARE you to find me a moped with worse low end than this.
This photo has been brought to you by the song in Blade where the Vampire club has the blood sprinklers going CRAZY.  Click the vid below and lose control.

Hick Fixes AKA I Work at a Moped Shop / Ciao Town / Racks on Racks.

So we got this A3 tomos into the shop......it would only idle and would die if you gave it gas. HRM what could that mean? Leak? Jetting? Timing? HAHAH no, try an A35 piston in an A3 cylinder... Ok that's not possible is it? Because the A3's are 10 pin cranks and the A35s have a 12 pin crank, not to mention a piston suited for reeds. Well these dudes made it kind of happen. Drilled the crank bushing out to 12mm (they did a really nice job) and threw that A35 piston in there. A+ for effort dudes!!!
Stock A3 10mm crank bushing.
This is the A3 crank bushing they drilled to 12mm SWEET!
Check this sweet intake!
15mm Sha bolted right on.

This is my new best friend. 1977 Ciao I bought from my buddy Ryan Nash who got it from Rob Balk. $75 with the title. Came in a box and I'm stoked to be shredding the streets on it.
Has Dellorto 12:10 drilled out to 13:13, Malossi Contra spring, stock Euro 8 roller varo with 4 weights taken out, weird ass baby proma hack and weld pipe, and some iffy porting.
Free parts are the best parts. Hooking up the break lights as soon as i get another switch!
Rode the laguna the other night, I think my bearings went bad or something. I need to pour some crisco on this thing.
Got a rack for my Variant Sport from Orange Robin at the STL rally, Stoked!
The wonderful Pepi got racks on racks and its so nice. I roll around with so many baguettes on deck.
you could literally put probably 25 Oreo boxes in these. Options.
My Gf visited and we did a touristy ride. CHICAGO.

Ciao Welding and INDIAN MOPED!

Building a Chicago based Ciao loaner for my gang members to use at near by rallies or around town. Its a slow build because its a some what free build. The frame was given to me from Sam Mckay and has been in Blk Blk for some time. Willie used to own it and ran a reed kit on it, you can see the subframe section cut out for the intake. Have a Pinasco 75cc kit and a few other goodies lined up for this thing. It already has the Malossi 8.8 to 1 gears in the rear transmission wooo! Look at those horrible welds!!! The coolest part of being in Blk Blk is spraying black over all the fuck ups in a build.

Used this haggard maxi seat to soften the blows.

So YEA!!! Finally got this sweet Indian moped off of HNRZ Elyse for free! She needed room in her garage and I feel like I'm the only person in Chicago that wants one. It came with no wheels but I had these Indian mags set away in my pile. Of course they were missing the brake hubs and axles but i found 1 compatible set, just gotta find another. I'm super stoked on this thing for real!!!! Picture me rollin!! Who wants an Indian loaner!!???????
 COT DAMN!
 Paint job is so WHET.
Guys you know what this means right?! It goes atleast 24mph!
 Chief Keef
Got my fork lock functioning so I can park right out front of the Smash Mouth concert with confidence.
 ELECTRIC START?!?!

 Not original.
 Rack for Big K's
Came with a couple extra gears for trail riding.
 Cleanish.
I am absolutely addicted to mineral water....more specifically, TOPO CHICO.
Is that not the most insane emblem for a drink youve ever seen? AN INDIAN DRINKING LIKE ENCINO MAN OUT OF A RIVER. hahahha!
