Another reason to use good 2 stroke oil.

So was working on this Garelli the other day and had some issues. OK. I clean the carb, replace the bottom end fluid, make sure the throttle is properly opening all the way, points are at stock setting, but bike wont rev out. So of course I think its a clogged pipe so I clean the pipe and header, still acts the same way.... Pull the pipe off and look up into the exhaust port to find this carbon build up from years of use. Carbon build up can be caused by a few different things, running too rich and using cheap 2 stroke oil. This will result in a loss of power and more routine maintenance is needed. Also you can get carbon build up under your rings which doesnt allow them to seat properly. The way I see it, It's worth the money to just buy better oil and not have to rebuild your top end when you dont want to. I personally run Amsoil Sabre at 100:1 and havent had any carbon related issues in the last year. It's rad to run a 100:1 capable oil because a quart lasts so much longer. Look at these photos hahaha. I cleaned this up with files and it proved to be a bit harder than I thought.

The Summerai's Just The Tip 4

So this weekend I traveled to Green Bay for the Summerai's Just The Tip 4. I totally needed to go to a rally because I hadn't in weeks. Last year I hit 15 rallies and this was the only one I missed and really wanted to go to. I rode up with HNRZ Chris and my Gf. It's always nice to go to rallies that are close and not 8+ hours away. Got to see Cranks, Bruces, Casserollers, HNRZ, and finally most of The Summerai members. Drew and Christine rule and Eddie let us crash at his place wooo.  Me and Graham Motzing (finally) docked, shared some grom love, and listened to GNAR KILL. If you arent familiar with this rally, it's a 200 mile round trip ride to the tip of the Door Peninsula, IT RULES. City rallies are boring and lets face it, if your rally doesnt have a cool theme anymore, no one is coming. See: attendance in MA rallies that were packed 3 years ago. I'd always much rather go to a small rally, ride, camp and hang with like 30 people. Id say about 25 mopeds left and close to a dozen returned. I rode dubs with my GF and all my gear on my stock Derbi, it handled it like a champ. It was nice to do a long ride and get an idea of how the Pinball run might be. We saw pipes snap, seals blow, bottom ends seize, gears wear out, wrecks, and more. So funnnnnnnnnnnn. I accidentally ran Eddie's head over with my Derbi but he is fine (Sorry) and got to cut a chicken's head off at the farm we stopped at.. Not to mention the ride was AWESOME. So scenic with cherry trees everywhere. It's cool how everyone up in Door county names their house and has the coolest small businesses. I ate WAY to many cheese curds and beef sticks. YEA BOI. Shit was ratchet as fuck. Most of these pics were taken by my Gf because her camera is better than mine.

No excuses.
Hit a state park outside of Sheboygan on the way home.
